Palace of Versailles

We visited Versailles on our first day in France. The sheer size of the the palace and surrounding gardens was amazing! In 1682, Louis XIV chose Versailles as the fixed residence of the sovereigns. The final version of of the Baroque palace contained 700 rooms, and the grounds covered an immense 2,000 acres.
